This was quite annoying! We setup most of our laptops with Utkarsh Windows software for the seminar we had on Saturday. Kartik added an account called “utkarsh” on the machines. When people booted their machines this morning, they had lost their “Administrator” accounts! I mean the folder existed in “Documents And Settings”, but couldn’t understand how to login. We thought Kartik messed up the accounts and we lost the admin account 😉
Tried adding a new account by Administrator name but the smart operating system refused it.
So had to Google for it! And then found that Windows XP is a little oversmart with the welcome screen. It does not show the Administrator account on the Welcome screen if there are more than one users with admin access.
The solution is easy though. Requires a registry tweak if you want to show the Administrator account on the welcome screen.
PS: Guess, this is my first Windows post 😉
Heh, there is a huge list of these quirks. Actually, that can make up for an interesting blog by itself. 😉
Duh,
We should not use Windows Admin account in daily work. Thank to God that most 3 IMP men of our team are now equipped with Mac!!
Windows 🙁
