I received the honor of contributing to a meeting of the education trust that manages my alma mater. The trust wants to start a computer training institute and the meeting was to conduct a preliminary discussion on the subject.
A lot of fascinating items came forward.
- Managing a large educational trust is a big deal
- The trustees must be committed to make something happen
- New ideas and view points should be welcomed, even if they conflict yours
- A long term vision of creating the future drives present decisions
- Long term goals need to be balanced with short term ones
- Even a trust needs to take care of cash flows to sustain the activities
- A professionally run trust with high values can cause miraculous results
- It’s a privilege to be part of a social revolution!
