Google Search Features

I was Googling for some WordPress themes and hit upon a personalized search feature of Google. Basically, you login to Google and then search. Google then learns how you search and select results and shows you better results next time. This service is still in beta – though it was launced in first quarter of 2004 – and works well overall. I think Google is keeping a lot of things in Beta right now! It’s a good business strategy though – launch a lot of services, let people use them, see which ones get popular, direct engineering efforts towards them, make more people happy!

Then I was looking around the Google site. The Google History was a great read – it’s surprising how much innovation these guys are bringing to the planet! A lot of that is because of the people they hire! Foss.In/2005 had a Google booth, and they awarded a few who could solve the puzzles they put out. Gopal V came out with some real cool solutions to them.

Oh, so let me bring forward the main topic why I started this post! Have you seen the number of search features Google provides? Go check out this Google Search: More, more, more page to find out! You will find out something or the other that you did not know about Google yet! I didn’t know they searched mail order catalogs too! Or the amazing Google SMS service! Go figure!
