LG 6230 mobile phone

LG6230D Mobile phone

I bought an LG 6230 mobile phone three weeks back. I used to carry around the “pioneer scheme” classic till date and am happy with the features of the new LG. It’s not the color screen or the camera that I found useful, but just the standard calling and address book functionality is implemented nicely. I liked the user interaction model and the cross linking of menus. The search in address book could be faster (it has a one second delay after you type, and before it searches the address book) and I would have liked if they made it easier to store mp3’s on the phone via the data cable. I would have also liked if they allowed more than 30 sms’s. The phone has a nice 128MB memory so why have limitations like this?

MouthShut has a few good reviews about this phone.

Interestingly, ads of the phone have the silver color piece. But if you go to the Reliance Web World, they have only the black model. They say they have not even seen the silver piece anytime! The data cable costs something like Rs. 1350 if you buy it from LG, but you can get it much cheaper (around 200 + delivery) from eBay.

The audio quality is much better with the headset. Othewise you got to turn the phone and speak into the microphone placed at the bottom of the phone when you are in a noisy place. I think it’s a lousy place to keep the mic.

I am waiting for my SD card to play the mp3’s and audio books. This is going to be my cheaper alternative to buying another iPod 😉

  1. I bought the same model but not able to connect to ineternet as there is no option of R Connect on the hand set. What should I do to get my handset R Connect enable?

  2. Haven’t really tried that! I don’t even know if the media player can play anything other than the mp3 files. The Gallery does have movies, but the extension is not visible from the phone at least. I haven’t yet been able to download the photos from the phone to the computer yet. So can’t dig around. Let me figure this out!

  8. You can not “browse” the Internet on LG6230. You can browse only as much as provided by RWorld. You can not open any site you like. The phone does not come with a browser (e.g. Opera) that you can use to browse the mobile web.

But if you want to connect the phone to a laptop / computer and use it as a modem, yes, you can do that.

  12. Hi Harsh,

Couldn’t understand your message! If you want to know the inner hardware workings of the phone, I think it’s best to buy one and disassemble it!
