Magnet’s Saturday Blast – Events, Organization and Feedback

It is one week after the Saturday blast today. Ashok has narrated the day extremely well, so let me quickly summarize the events we organized and a few quotes from the participants.

Magnet's Saturday Blast

Nametags: We wanted the day to begin with creativity. Everybody had to wear a nametag, but not their real name. A funny yet meaningful name that they would like to be called that day. BTW, mine was “Monk ee” 😉

Magnet stamp: We put a red Magnet stamp on everybody’s face.

KG Poem recital: The prayer was a suspense! At the very beginning of the day, we made everyone stand up and recite two KG poems. Those too at the top of their voice in child like tone.

Team Formation, Individual, Pair activities: The first few activities were team based, then we moved to individual activities, and lastly a pair activity. We wanted to cover all forms of interactions. And also expose people to the experience of them.

Ad Mad World: We asked each team to create an advertisement for a given product. They could create a slogan, jingle and act out the ad. The products were hilarious and teams had to make creative ads.

Movies: We showed two movies during the day. One Hollywood action/sci-fi/horror type film and one Bollywood comedy.

Kahanee Mein Twist: This activity was one of the most interesting. After the English movie, we asked teams to pick up a scene from the movie and act it out as a comedy. People really came up with superb ideas and executions.

Organize a Party: The teams had to come up with the plan to organize a memorable party. They would work out the venue, agenda, dress code, food, travel and costing. Some people from the team would then present the idea to the audience and would get scores based on that.

Mind Over Matter: We did two creative visualization exercises – imagining yourself in a song and feeling all sensations. This was done to let people discover the power of their minds. Logic alone does not solve all problems, imagination and creativity helps in coming up with better approaches. The exercise was also to experience the peace and tranquility that music brings. Next activity in this session was to draw your own face! It was a simple yet thought provoking exercise.

Rock The House: First, participants had to share the silliest thing they have done in their life with their partners. We then enacted a few dance steps for people who feel they can’t dance. Over the years we have observed that people hesitate to dance and this was to break them free from that fear. We made the dance steps funny and easy to remember. Some of the styles were: Milking a Cow, Monkey Style, Count the Stars, Keep it up style, Wipe the Glass and Vada Pav + Pepsi.

The next hour was filled with action, energy and sweat. The dance floor was throbbing and everyone was in the groove. At the end, we sag a popular Hindi song together – just to experience the other side of the KG poem of morning!

Feedback, Graffiti: Last, we passed on feedback forms and asked people to leave their expressions of the event in the form of graffiti.

Well Said: Now here are some quotes from the participants.

Then came was the event of the day for our team (team 2) – The Ad Mad Show. We were given a product and we had to make a 2 minute advertisement on it. The product names were very funny which made us put our naughty thoughts in the Ad. We came across some good punch lines for the Ads, like the one “ganju champi tel use karo, milegi roj item log” and some more.

Kevin, Muskan, Atul, Amol, Manya & Bunty

It was such a wonderful experience. We enjoyed the movies, food and all the fun.

One of the most interesting exercises was visualization exercise. We felt very odd when we were told to draw our own face within 2 minutes, but we think even if we would have given 2 hours for that it would be insufficient.

The Rock, Aragorn, Gangu, Rim Zhim & Masti

WHAT A DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 10 September 2005

“MAYA Palat de KAYA”, “MONK ee’s MANTRA”, “GYPSY ka MAZIC”

The best part was GANJU TEL and KHIDKI Condom. Heheheh…..

We all lined up for the food like standing in front of the local train ticket counter. There were some trespassers also like ARJUN (Our Team mate). The food was good and all of us ate like we had not eaten for ages.
This was a real rocking experience. Everybody started with the steps that were taught. But soon, all started creating their own steps and own music. Even non dancers danced like mad elephants. Sometimes, dancing local trains came, halted and went.

It was a really the most memorable day in Magnet. The day was full of fun, masti, action, music, learning, mazaa, food and lots of excitement.

Phoenix, Brad, Arjun & Khushi

Then came the real mad event, the AD MAD world, which in fact was so much fun… but not when we got the first product “Chameli Academy”! … Thanks to the last minute idea of the flashing hundred rupee notes, it saved the day for us!

Hats off to organizers for all the efforts made to teach all the Sunny Deols and Salman Khans the dance steps!

Baba, Prats, Leo, Harry & Smarty

Never imagined that we would enjoy as much as we did!

The most enjoyable thing was the Dance Party – it made the total day remarkable.
Bablu, Bharat Bhushan, Vicky, Zen & Mishti

September 10, 2005 Saturday – no Magneteer will forget it in their lives.

The surprise was yet to come when we received the chit with the product name as “Khidki Condom”. We were scared to enact it. But managed to get seven points and reach the finals.

It was indeed a SUPERB SATURDAY. From morning to evening, every moment of the day was full of JOY and FUN.

Neerjara, Bond 007, Deep & V.K.

It (the poems) brought back memories of being in nursery.

We had lunch in a hurry as we were pretty excited and curious to see what follows post lunch.

(About visualization) Laxman was running around trees in first song. Then he turned violinist in second song.

We really loved the day!

Boss, Timone, Laxman & Charlie’s Angel
