   They still don’t get it. Its not just the device in hand that is beating the $h!t out of everyone else. It is the end-to-end experience.

2. Are you sure it’s launching in India on the 11th ? As far as i see it, there is no mention of the exact date for the India Launch of the 3G iphone yet (as per my digging on apple’s site | http://www.apple.com/iphone/countries/).

   Also, there are about 25 countries who will first get a taste of the latest iphone, and then it’ll be launched in other countries subsequently. India is in the second set of 48 countries that will get the iphone by September(I’m guessing the month.. maybe earlier too !)

   Atleast they’ve capped the price of the iphone at 8k. It promises to be a real bang when it lands in the indian market.. Is nokia listening ??

7. I was so excited by the news, I couldn’t resist posting it! Looking at the details, though, it may well be September when we get it, and the price may be higher (since $199 in the US is for 2 year contract).

   But it sure is going to be here, and cheaper!

   First thing .. It will not be available in India in July. Actually it will be available in October or so .

   Second thing… Apple will not be direct vendor here. Airtel is doing that for Apple and the phones will locked to Airtel networks and It will be priced nearly the double of actual price…
   that is 15-18k … cheers.

   Its a good thing that APPLE is going to lunch a brand new iPhone in India which will cost Rs.8000 + octroi ADD and the cost will raise till 10000 to 11000. It is as per my view, any ways lets see what happens …………..@KASH

20. phone has finally released their pricing details via their exclusive indian carrier Vodafone. The 8GB model would cost around Rs.15960 and the 16GB model would cost around Rs.19960, both available only on exclusive 2 year contract with Vodafone. No exact details about the launch dates are available as of now.

30. Alternatively, some online underground sites are also selling unlocked iPhone in India but these unofficial iPhone suppliers in India do not share their contact address so be careful in case you run into shipping problems.
    you can order it on eBay or buy it from some mobile shops in Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderbad, Mumbai, Chennai, etc.
    you can just buy a local SIM card in India and replace the AT&T SIM. Make sure you read the Apple policies as this may break the warranty.

    What is the price of iPhone in India – The unlocked 4GB iphone is around 20k while the 8GB unlocked iPhone costs around 30k. (includes shipping and taxes) The prices will fall once iPhone 3G arrives here this year and is expected to sell for Rs 10,000 – 12,000

32. Its impossible… The iphone will probably hit India this year, but won’t cost less than 18-20 thousand for any version in the first few months…

33. the 4 gb will cost around 13k, wheres the 8gb will cost you around 22k.it will first be launched by Airtel and later by Vodafone. the exact date for Airtel launch is not sure but tentatively it is said to be 24th August 2008.

35. I think this is outrageous and ridiculous pricing by Apple/Vodafone. I am not going to buy the iPhone for Rs. 31000. It simply does not make sense. Check out my blog for my views on iPhone pricing in India.

37. It has already been published. We got e-mail from Airtel and Vodafone as well as SMS.

    iPhone 3G is available in 8GB and 16 GB.
    Release Date August 22, 2008.
    Price : 31K INR for 8GB and 36K INR for 16 GB.

    This is too much as compared to the rumour.

    Would you buy a phone that:
    a) costs Rs 31000
    b) does not let you use Bluetooth for anything but headset
    c) Does not have any memory expansion slot
    d) does not let you change the Battery
    e) Does not let you sync if you are on a Linux desktop?
    f) Has 3G capability but wont be useful for about 2 years since there are no 3G networks in India.
    g) Is network-locked to Airtel or Vodaphone

    If you answered yes to any of the above, then go get fooled into buying an iPhone!!!

39. hey whats this? … i m getting confused by viewing all the conversations … i m 4rm Infy mysore and i would like to have me an Iphone and can anyone of the technical experts or anyone of current Iphone holders guide me whether i should buy that or not at the earliest because if yes , i have very less time so that i can get the phone sooner. 40. Considering the limitations of iPhone and the lack of 3G features in our network providers, iPhone 3G 8GB is not worthy to buy for 31,000 INR.

41. dont buy apple iphone for this cost. wait for few months. the price will be slashed to 10,000 for 8gb and 14,000 for 16gb.
