We applied for an iPhone developers account at start of December. It’s been about 3 months now, and we have not yet got the Developers Account despite sending all documents and repeated followups.
We have 4 iPhone products ready to deploy, but our hands are tied because we don’t yet have a developer’s account. We would get emails saying that Apple is looking into this and that we should be patient. But how long?? A delay of 3 months would simply kill your idea. Why does Apple have to be so lazy in granting a developer’s account? I am scared to think how much time they will take to approve an application for AppStore.
The frustration levels went so high, we decided to just drop the plans to release these products.
Then we got an idea! Why not release them on the Mac?
So from frustration to joy, we present to you Picture Puzzle!
Picture Puzzle is a Mac OSX memory test game. You see a collection of pictures one after another. The objective of the game is to arrange them in right order after initial display. This tests how well you can remember the order of images. It stimulates your brain and helps you remember things better.
It’s a free download, and we encourage you to donate!
Are you an iPhone developer? Know someone? How long did it take for them? Are we the only sufferers?
One of my colleagues at work is involved with an iPhone game too, and is having tremendous problems getting into the AppStore.
Was it technically easy to convert it to the Mac?
@David: We followed our coding standards for iPhone development too, so it wasn’t too difficult to port to Mac. We had to adjust for screen sizes, remove all finger/gesture features and package it for Mac. Overall, about 20% additional work.
Interestingly, I just got a notification from Apple about them charging $99 for the developer’s account. Now I have to wait for an activation code in email! 😉
We have been waiting for 8 days now. If there’s anything anyone has found about speeding up the process of getting an Apple iPhone Developer account approved, please share the information. Thanks, Maureen
@Maureen: Unfortunately, there is not much in your hands. You will have to wait for Apple to respond. You may call them (use numbers on the Apple contact page for your region), but it’s really just waiting for their response. Once you get a response (will come via email), you have an email address you can send a reminder / followup too. Things will move faster then. But still, there are delays of paper work if your application is not free.
As of now, we have one application (free) live. But the paid applications are still under review. It’s been months! 🙁
@Nirav, I heard some good news! Why don’t you post about it? 🙂
🙂
About 4000 people downloaded our first iPhone application – iQuotations within 10 days. We are currently working on an upgrade!
